Get the Most of your Roof Life with a Quality Maintenance

Keeping the roof clean is essential to get the most out of its life. In a place like Seattle, with a climate characterized by the high humidity, the environment has the best conditions for moss, mold and algae to start growing on your roof. The lack of inspection and maintenance can lead to moss and other organic material deposits, causing real damage to your shingles. Moss can lift the roof shingles causing mechanical damage to the roof, while the sub-products produced by moss, mold, algae and bacteria can damage the roof shingles over time.
We offer roof cleaning solutions that aim to get the best results while maintaining your roof life. Our roof cleaning services can be classified in three different categories:

  • Roof cleaning by blowing debris form the roof
  • Moss control: Moss removal using a brush
  • Moss control: Moss Treatment to kill the existing moss

Many times contractors can offer pressure wash or roof soft wash alternatives for composite roofs, which erode the surface of the roof and can only take some years out of your roof lifespan. We highly recommend to avoid these cleaning techniques, as many times what looks like a good deal it is not that affordable when you make the counts at the end of the day.

Moss Removal: A Meticulous Technique for a Clean Roof

Doing the moss removal by hand, using a metal brush, is the best way to get rid of that unwanted garden in your roof surface without damaging the shingles. Removing the moss that already exists on the roof is an exhaustive work. Amigo Gutters’ teams are specifically trained to remove the moss without damaging the shingles by using a fine bristled brush. And it is great to see the results right away! The moss removal service is often accompanied by a roof cleaning service, blowing the moss that has just been removed, along with the application of a moss treatment to prevent the new growth.

Moss Treatment: Prevent the Growth

The moss treatment we offer is available in granular and powder options. While the powder stays longer -making it the best fit for steeped roofs-, the granular treatment is usually less visible to the eye. Both of them:

  • Can stay in the roof up to two months
  • Don’t interfere with the integrity of your shingles
  • Kill the existing moss in three or four months from the application.

If you are consistent with your roof maintenance, it will be enough applying a moss control treatment every other year to keep it in a good condition.

Blowing the Roof's Debris: Fast & Easy

This service is only available when combined with a gutter cleaning service. Our gutter crew goes up in the roof and uses a blower to clean any debris that might have fallen and stayed in your roof. Although it is the fastest and easiest way to clean the roof, we insist on combining it with a gutter cleaning service because otherwise all the debris that are blown away can stay in your gutters and cause water standing in the gutter, water overflow or any other issues related to gutters that are non functioning properly because they are dirty.
